FACTORS AFFECTING CUTOFF SCORE

DIFFICULTY LEVEL OF THE EXAM

The Cutoff score largely depends on the difficulty level of the exam. If the exam was of the easy-moderate level, the qualifying Cutoff score is higher. Likewise, if the exam had a high difficulty level, the Cutoff score is generally expected to be less.

NUMBER OF ASPIRANTS

The number of candidates who appear for NEET 2019 will also impact the Cutoff score. Higher the number of candidates, higher will be the Cutoff score required to secure admissions in the medical colleges and vice versa.

THE NUMBER OF SEATS AVAILABLE IN THE COLLEGES

The Cutoff largely depends on the number of seats available in the colleges. If the number of available seats is higher, the Cutoff is expected to be low. However, if the number of seats is skewed, the Cutoff is bound to increase.

Based upon the above-mentioned factors, the cut-offs are decided by NTA (National testing Agency) and ranks are allotted to the students. On the basis of ranks obtained, colleges are allotted and the medical course begins.
