Mother of all other Engineering branches, Mechanical Engineering is one of the oldest and sought after ones with aplenty of opportunities on career front. The wide aspect of its application and all-pervasive attribute is an alluring characteristic of this branch. By and large, a lot of inventions of the past and modern era are credited to applications of mechanics. Several college of Mechanical engineering in Uttarakhand offer the course under varied specialization as per the demand of modern times.

Responsibilities of a mechanical engineer

The discipline of mechanical engineering involves learning the following concepts precisely:

  • thermodynamics
  • mechanics
  • kinematics
  • robotics
  • fluid mechanics

All these concepts are used while the technologists design motor vehicles, manufacturing units, aerospace, aircraft parts and industrial machinery. Furthermore engineers help in designing engines, heating as well as cooling systems and taking care of the entire power plant equipment structuring. The engineers not only design a mechanical system, but maintain and test it also.

The aspirants of the branch of technology should start a little after having clarity over his/her affinity towards mechanics. The parents of such type of child should buy building block games while s/he is young. Slowly and steady, such children can take up Physics Chemistry and Math (PCM) while they are in 10+2.

  1. Decide your priorities right after 10+2

Passing 10+2 in PCM is the first step taken by aspirants toward becoming a mechanical engineer. For being eligible to study B.E. or B. Tech programs, the students should score at least 50-60 percent of marks. 60 percent marks in 10+2 makes students eligible for getting admission in Engineering colleges in Dehradun and other parts of the India.

After the result is out, the students give a variety of entrance examinations to get admission in prestigious colleges in India.

  1. Exploring options after graduation

Once graduation in the engineering branch is done, students can work to gain industry experience as internship. To have in-depth knowledge of the discipline pursuing masters in mechanics is advisable. After successful completion of graduation, students should appear for an entrance exam for M. Tech. Also, a few engineers enroll for a business management program after completing their B. Tech in the discipline.

In case, aspirants are interested in any further studies after completing their post graduation, they can go for PhD and further research in the specialized branch.
